Our History

What was once the family home for Emile and Martha Schnackenberg, who arrived from Nebraska in 1910, is today the home of Far Horizons Montessori School.  When the Schnackenbergs sold the property to Nora Cunningham, she promised to maintain the home in its classic craftsman style. Today, it serves as the main office, faculty lounge, library and conference area for the school.  The classrooms were added as a separate building in what was the backyard area, and today they are furnished with all of the most modern educational equipment.

When classes first started back in 1980, mingled with the Schnackenberg’s memories were Nora Cunningham’s dreams.  They envisioned a school facility which would provide an optimum educational environment for students.  Today, you can see for yourself that those dreams have come true at Far Horizons Montessori School.
